if you have placed your CPU to an area which is not easily accessible to every time push eject or close button of your CD or DVD drive then I am sure you would like idea to have a shortcut right on your desktop or quick launch menu… though here I hope you would also love to read the idea of placing quick launch menu to right click context menu from the previous post.
So let’s now come to adding CD DVD shortcuts to do this you need to download the application link given at end… called NirCmd. Unzip the package downloaded copy the extract file nircmd.exe to windows folder.
So after you have finished copying now its time to create shortcut… you can do this by right click context menu and choosing create shortcut from new menu; point this shortcut to
nircmd.exe cdrom open E:
E refers to the cd drive location (This command you may also run via the run menu as shown below)
In the similar way you can add a shortcut to close tray also…. that’s it you have done all the task… now you not everytime need to click that small hidden button on the CD/DVD rom drive.
