The concept of hibernation is very useful if you have to leave your system in the middle of a work which is going to be take a long time. In such a situation many of us use a way to shut down a pc at a given time if the process is an automated process like scanning of the system or a download. But what if the process running requires users attention then in any way you have to shutdown your system and then have to start from the scratch again or reopen the program or the heavy file once been available to work.
But it would be if you can switch off your system and then again when you on it everything start from the same position like you have never left it…! Surprised… then may be you have not heard of the concept of Hibernation… or about the file Hiberfil.sys.
The Hiberfil.sys hidden system file is located in the root folder of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Microsoft Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to the amount of random access memory (RAM) that is installed on the computer.
So when you make your system hibernate it saves the status of the system and then uses it to restore the previous position… thus saving a lot of your valuable time.
