Google has recently rolled out its new strategy plans of monitoring your online search behavior for its advertisement displayed on several websites. Though, this behavioral advertisement is in beta testing period and with in next few weeks, it is all set to display on Google’s Youtube and thousands of other sites that belong to Google’s ad network`
This new strategy will be based on the data collected during the online searches and activities of users like if any one frequently visit sites related to digital cameras or mobiles with camera then the ad displayed will be related to the search content and if he/she visit any site with a specific content then Google ads shown will be in relation with the content of the webpage.
This technology which has been in the limelight is the result of $3.2 billion acquisition of the Internet ad service DoubleClick Inc. Some of the opposition to the deal revolved around potential privacy intrusions, but Google overcame those misgivings during an extensive review to win regulators’ approval for the deal. Till date to the acquisition Google was selling its ads solely to search requests and the general content on Web pages. Although the Google Rivals Microsoft and Yahoo already have been tying ads to people’s presumed interests, but this time the search giant is all set to use this technology.
In a Company Blog Susan Wojcicki, Google vice president of product management explained “By making ads more relevant, and improving the connection between advertisers and our users, we can create more value for everyone. Users get more useful ads, and these more relevant ads generate higher returns for advertisers and publishers. So if you search for digital cameras on Google, you’ll get ads related to digital cameras. If you are visiting the Web site of one of our AdSense partners, you would see ads based on the content of the page.”
Now with such a technology in existence Google is all facing criticism, though, both in favor and against it but it is up to you. What you think should Google be allowed to look into any users search behavior or it is a very serious development and should be opposed. Claim your space to comment below in the forum….
