AS we know that the CD DVD media have their own life span period and after that time it almost to become unusable, but why we do so; creating physical CD/DVD disks when we can emulate a CD/DVD ROM drive and create a disk image to better store them on any large capacity hard-disk drive.
By crating an image it doesn’t means it only backups them on hard-disk media but we can use them as easily as it is an actual physical disk with the help a tool called Damon Tools – it will let you create disc image files in DAEMON Tools native format — Media Data eXtended (*.mdx). MDX format is designed to make it easier to store disc images. It’s more convenient to have one MDX image instead of two MDS and MDF files.
Deamon Tools is well capable to handle up to 4 CD/DVD virtual drives , and you not need to worry a single bit; as they all appear as they were like the real drive in your OS. To access a disk image, select a virtual drive then choose a disc image you want to mount. Disk images are mounted by virtual in My Computer. Though it has said earlier that Deamon Tools create image with the extension MDX but for your convenience it can also create and mount ISO file format as well from original discs inserted in physical CD/DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray drives.
So if you have the hard drive space and don’t want or need to carry an optical drive, a virtual drive is a great alternative. Daemon Tools Lite is a great application to enable this functionality.
